Today was my
last fishingday of the 2011 season and we had a bite of a 4-500
pounder that eate the Black Bart Abaco Prowler pulled a bunch of line
and came off after bringing the lure back up it eate the Bonze
Grimmel and came off again. Brasilia caught two blues a 400 and a 750
pounder.Thanks to everybody that made it a such a great time for me
.I can´t wait to go back to all my friends and the big old blue
Ladys next year. Blue Marlin fishing in the Azores is very special .

Finally the
weather allowed us to go to the azoresbank again and we caught two
blues out of three bites 650 and 350 pounds. The 650 eate 2 lures and
got hooked on both solidly very hungry fish !
Brasilia
caught one out of 2 400 pounders

fish condor today but we had to escape strong north east wind before
something happened. The rest of the day we spend in the south nada.

today on the azores bank. Brasilia caught a 600 pounder Habitat

a nice one south of pico that was it in strong north east wind.

We caught 1
out of 3 bites from blue marlin on azores bank today. We had a bite
on the Violator ,on the Hercules and caught the fish on the mongrel
dog. Brasilia caught 1 blue. Xacara caught one out of two or 3,
Habitat caught a 700 and a 800 pounder and Gladius lost a 900 pounder
on 12 pound line.

Back on the
azores bank we caught a 400 pound blue on the Bonze Violator and a
white marlin on the Angel. We had 3 more bites from whites.Xacara
went ½ on blues and had contact with white marlin as
well.Habitat caught 1 out of two and Brasilia went 0/2 . Gladius
fought one for a while on fly and raised a nice one in the evening.

The first day
with good weather again and they were going off on the azores bank !
We (Makaira)
caught 2 blues , a 300 pounder on the Black Bart RPP and a 650
pounder on the Bonze Violator. We had two more bites from blues on
the Angel and the Hercules and had two bites from white
marlin.Brasilia caught 3 out of four up too 750 and Xacara also went
3 for 4. Gladius raised 3 blues and got bites out of two of them.
Habitat fished in the north and caught 2 blues as well.

Makaira we turned around because of the clients, Brasilia caught a

We caught a
600 pounder on the Black bart Hawaian projet on 50 pound line in the
south of the island in huge swells and 20 kts of wind. Habitat caught
a 850 pounder and went home. Brasilia caught 2 blues and a white on
the azores bank in sick conditions .Gladius raised one blue.

I was on
Xacara today and we pulled the hook on a 600 pound blue marlin in the
north. Brasilia missed a 300 pounder.Gladius raised 6 blues on a very
rough azores bank .

the azores bank today and had 4 bites of blue marlin but no luck with
the hookup with very light drag and Hookrigs from the clients fishing
50 pound line. Brasilia caught 2 blues (800 and 500) and a white on
Legendlure Krakatoa.Xacara caught a white.

We had a great
day on Xacara with Karim today .We caught 3 blue marlin (400,600 and
700pounds) had another bite of a 750 pounder and raised another small
blue.
Brasilia
caught 3 out of four as well (300, 650 and 850 pounds) and saw a 900
freefeeding.Dois peixes caught a blue and a white and missed another
blue , Habitat caught a 650 pounder and Gladius caught a 700 pounder
on a bait.

day Uli caught another blue marlin of 400 pounds on Xacara .Brasilia
missed 1 blue caught a mako and had a knockdown ,Dois Peixes lost two
and Gladius raised two.

750 pounder on a pitchbait on 80 pound tackle today and we raised
another small blue and a white marlin on Xacara. Brasilia caught a
500 pounder and missed another blue. Makaira pulled the hook on a
nice one. Habitat caught a 900+ and missed another one. Dois Peixes
caught a 900 and missed a 400 pounder and Gladius raised one blue.

600 pounder on 50 pound tackle and we had two more bite from fish of
700 and 750 pounds and raised a white on Xacara. Brasilia caught 2
out of 3 blues.Habitat caught 1 out of two blues and two white
marlin. Makaira had a bite of a blue and Gladius caught a 800 pounder
on a bait.

Gladius raised a blue and had a triple on white marlin on azores

Ian is driving
for 5 days now and We caught a 400 pounder on the Bonze Mongrel Dog
today Habitat caught a 400 as well and Gipsy Blues got one they
called 800 pounds.

We had an
unbelievable day today ! Marty and me fished for one day with Luciano
, Nicola and Ian(taking all these pictures) we caught 4 blues and a
white on the flat calm azoresbank. Luciano first caught a 500 pounder
on the Bonze Grimmel.

An hour later
we hooked a 650 pounder on the Ballistic (Bonze) and Nicola caught it
quickly.

After that
Luciano caught a white (1 for 2 in a doublestrike) and a bit later a
spectacular 850 pounder that showed the best performance I´ve
seen for a long time.

today. It eate the Bonze Mongrel Dog.
We had another
bite but didn´t see the fish. Brasilia caught a 700 pounder on
the Bart Marlin candy.

The most
exiting fish of today was defenetly caught on the Habitat !
Capt Filip and
Angler Lucas caught a monster on 80 pound line that died after a 3
hour fight.
The fish was
weighed on a certified scale and was 539kg heavy ! 1 kg under the 80
pound world record caught in 1989 also here in Horta.

running the Xacara and we caught a 650 pound blue on the Legendlure
Cleopatra.
We had another
bite from a 500 pounder on the Bonze Ballistic and caught a White

the 31 Makaira for two days and today we caught a realy nice one over
900 pounds on the Bonze Ballistic .
We also had a
bite from a 500 pound blue on the Bonze Ultimate that didn´t
get hooked and a bite from a white marlin. Xacara caught a 400 pound
Mako and missed a white . Brasilia missed a white and Habitat caught
a 650 pound blue marlin in flat calm seas on the azores bank.

900 pounder on the Hercules today but we couldn´t get it
interested in the bait again.Brasilia caught two blues 400 and 475
pounds on the Puerto Rican Prowler.

recordfishing with the Delaynes on Makaira today and we raised 2
blues no switch a 500 pound Mako and a spearfish.
Brasilia

same lure and 2 Makos and Habitat caught a 850 pound blue.

I´m back
in Horta and so far the fishing was quiet slow.
Two days ago
we raised a 700 pound marlin on the Bonze DS and it eate the squid
perfectly but we pulled the hook after a few seconds. Xacara caught a
150 pounder. Habitat a 700 pounder.We also lost a white marlin and
saw a Broadbill on the surface . Yesterday we had a bite of a mako
and lost a smaller blue marlin .

Today was my
last day on the Brazilia for this season and Allaine caught a 650
pounder

We caught a
600 pounder on the grimmel that fought like a beast today. After we
had her on the leader the first time ,we went to full and ended up
cranking up the preset to 72 pounds of drag to get her up again and
she still had plenty of power left.
We also caught
a white and had one more bite of a white.
But it was
another Xacara day today ! 4/4 today !

for 3 bites of blue marlin . First we caught a 350 pounder on the
Mongrel Dog. The second one was 400 pounds and eate the DS and

(500) came on the DS again but got stuck on a piece of Rubber again.
We also had a

Habitat had a
white and a blue Xacara caught a white and missed a blue.

We went to
Condor were it was still fairly uncomfortable but full of blue marlin
too !We caught 3 out of 7 bites and a bite from a mako of 250pounds.
We first
caught a 350 pounder on the Bonze Tracker
After that we
had the Mako on the DS
Followed by a
doubleheader on Grimmel and Tracker both pulled off. (Medium size) 3
minutes later we had a strike on the Tracker
and then
finally we caught two again on the
Mongrel Dog
(250 pounds)
and at least a
decent one
over 500 on
the Tracker again. Doubleheader with Captain Zack caught 2 for four ,
Habitat 1/2 plus a Mako and Xacara caught a 700 pounder and a white
marlin !

600 pounder that didn´t switch before it got too rough for what
we do on condor bank. We went to the north and saw nothing else.

hookup s today .

three blue marlin on the Bonze Grimmel today , hooked two on 16 pound
line of wich we lost the first one imidiately and the second one
after 2 hours fight being tailwrapped. We also raised two white
marlin.

good weather again and fished on condor we pulled the hook on a 600
pounder that got billwrapped on the Herkules after it hit the Kona
Classic Tube.

chasing some tunas . We caught one Hammerhead failhooked on Bonzes

allowed us to go to Condor today but the condtions were not very
comfortable. In the early afternoon the wind got stronger and we
decided to go to the north and on the last line on the bank we caught
a 200 pounder on the D.S.

The GPS was
fixed and we went strait to condor . The weather was not nice in the
beginning but it turned good in the afternoon. The bait was still
where it was two days ago and we caught our first 600 pounder on the
Krakatao . The fish got tangeled in one of the other lines so we
fought it on two 130s. It still had power enough to squese Bonzes
hand down to a girls format ( After an hour it was more like my size)
An hour later
we caught another 600 on the Bonze Hercules and in the early evening
we caught
a small one on
the Bonze D.S.

Bonze had no
luck today !
First the GPS
stopped working so we couldn´t work the bank properly and than
the weather turned bad so we had to fish the airport and we only
caught a nice dorado.

We started on
the SE end of the Condorbank today and I just wanted to turn on a
goodlooking baitball as we got our first bite on the hawaian
breakfast (BlackBart)
after a short
fight Louis caught the 550 pounder.
An hour later
at the same spot a simillar size fish eate the Krakatao (Legendlures)
and gave us
some scratches at the snooter.
The bait
dissapeared and I went to the westend of the bank and the bait
started looking really good hear Xacara hooked and released their 350
almost simultaniously with our
200 pounder on
Bonzes D.S.
Very shortly
after this we hooked another 550 pounder and caught it on
Bonzes
scorpion.

back in the water and within 5 minutes another nice size blue
attacked it again but came off. As the lures were back in the water
the hawaian breakfast got another strike with the same result.

1/2 and Mario lost a 500 pounder on the walkaround "Marlin"

We caught 2/2
today all on Bonzes D.S. ! The first one was 850pounder that crashed
the lure like a rocket
The second
fish was a250 pounder.
Xacara caught
2/3 200 and300 pounds and the one they missed was a nice one.

We had one
lazy knockdown of a 700 pounder today.
Xacara did
similar with one defenet marlinbite and two other knockdowns wich
they didn´t see. I don´t know what happened on Habitat.

We started in
the north today but Louis didn´t find anything interesting
there so we ran towards the condor bank. Doing that we put a WR far
back behind the boat. This time it worked as Bonze spotted a 650
pounder that tried to eat the lure at a speed of 20 knots !
Fortunately we had the throttles down already when she finally
grabbed it and Bonze backed the drag right off. Laurent from Morocco
caught his first azorean blue with the most spektakular bite of a
marlin I have seen.
On the leader
the fish still showed some jumps.
In the
afternoon we caught another nice blue about simmilar size and she
crashed the Hawaian Breakfast from Blackbart.
Xacara caught
one out of two bites around 550 pounds and Habitat caught a small one
and I think he had another bite too.

We didn´t
see nothing today. Xacara caught one about 600 pounds and Habitat
caught a 750 pounder out of three bites.

Today was a
day with plenty of action again but the result was not very
satisfying! We went 0/3 and raised anotherone all around 500 pounds.
Xacara also
went 0/3 they had two nice ones up in a double and Habitat went 1/3
700 pounds

We caught 2/4
bites today on the Condor Bank !
First we had a
bite of a 700 pounder that came off after a few wild jumps.
Then we caught
a 400 pounder on the D.S. by bonze that wanted to be caught . It came
back 3 times after pulling a bunch of line of the reel and finally
got stuck.
A bit later we
caught a 500 pounder the fish ate bonzes Scorpion.
In the
afternoon we had another bite but the fish came of after a short
while.
Xacara caught
a 250 and missed a nice one .
Habitat caught
a 250 pounder as well and pulled one off.

We caught
another very nice blue marlin today on the Brazila . As we take the
wheel in turns the last days and Bonze was driving yesterday it was
my turn today. The fish were all in a fairly small area around Salao
in the north of Faial the last days and we fished there again around
three pm the 800 pounder came up on Bonzes Scorpion and after missing
it for quiet a while she got it. After half an hour the fish was at
the boat giving Bonze a good stretch on the leader.
She was the
only fish we saw today.
Habitat caught
a 550 a bit earlier and went in early.
Xacara had
nothing today.

We released a
very nice blue marlin today . She ate Bonzes D.S. in a very
aggressive way Louis caught the fish in just under 1 hour after
having some trouble with our handle.
We estimated
the fish bigger then 900 pounds.
We had another
bite of a smallish blue that knocked the same lure down and buggered
off.
Xacara caught
a 800 pounder out of a doubleheader !

We missed two
blues today !
A 500 pounder
that eate the K.C. Tube fell off just before Bonze had the leader and
the 700 we saw in the evening just swiped Bonzes Submission but no
hookup.
Xacara had the
same problem they also pulled a nice one off.
Habitat caught
a 700 pounder in the morning !

but Habitat caught a 650 pounder and Xacara a 900+.

Day off
Habitat had a
bite of a nice blue.

No luck for us
and Xacara but Habitat caught two around 750 pounds

In the morning
we first raised two white marlin of wich one knocked the lure out of
the clip. Around noon we had a bite of a 600 pounder and Bill fought
the fish until the hook slipped of the bill 2 meters from reaching
the leader.
We caught a
350 pounder an hour later.
Habitat pulled
the hook on one and Xacara had nothing today.

Marty caught a
650-700pound marlin
on the kona
classic tube from Bart today and it was his first one too. In the
evening we had a bite of something relatively big and we thought it
was a blue but after pulling the hook we found strong toothmarks on
the hookrig and figured it must have been a makoshark.
Habitat went
1/2 (750) and Xacara caught a 400 pounder and raised a nice one.

We had a
knockdown of a 700+ today but the fish never came back for more !

later Habitat catches a 750 pounder at the same spot ...
Xacara had a
couple of bites from white marlin.

today but Xacara caught a 900 on the condorbank!

Still
walehunting but with even less success then yesterday.
But we caught
two dorados traveling.
Doubleheader
caught a 550pounder and Habitat lost a potential grander after two
hours fight. Tomorrow is our first day fishing . The weatherforecast
looks good for the next days and the fish that are around at the
moment are very motivating.

On my first
day on the Brasilia a 40 foot Blackwatch owned by Louis Sougne
we (Les
Gallagher, Bonze me and a Filmcrew for Natinal Geografic lead by Rick
Rosenthal) were chasing
spermwales
for
underwaterfootage but couldn´t get close enough for filming.
Habitat caught
a 850 pound blue on the condorbank and it was full of baitfish and
birds.
Yesterday
Xacara caught a 900+ fish.
